Choosing a career for your wizard can be a daunting task. Some players may choose a race based on appearance, while others will choose a race based on the best racial abilities for the class. Depending on how you want to play your wizard, there are many different options. I’ve outlined the benefits of each career below so you can make an informed decision.

humans

Every Man For Himself: Innate escape mechanism, allows two DPS trinkets in PvP. (2 minute cool down)

Diplomacy: Increased reputation earned (10%) makes factions easier to work with.

gnomes

Escape Artist: Innate escape mechanism, but not as good as the human’s racial one. (1.45 min cooldown)

The small size makes it harder for players to target you!

Expansive Mind: Increases mana pool by 5%.

night elves

Shadowmeld: Grants invisibility, useful for positioning and surprise attacks. (2 minute cool down)

Swiftness: Increases dodge (2%), helping to avoid melee and ranged attacks.

in years

Stone Form: Removes poisons, diseases, bleeds, and reduces damage dealt to the player (+10% armor). Last 8 seconds with a 2 minute cooldown

Draenei

Gift of the Naaru: Heal over time on the target (20% of total HP for 15 seconds). 3 minute cooldown.

Heroic Presence: Increases hit chance by 1%, good for min/max characters.

worgen

Darkflight – A “speed” skill, increases movement speed by 40% for 10 seconds with a 3 minute cooldown. Great for adding mobility to Frost Mages.

Cruelty: Critical hit chance increased (1%).

orcs

Blood Fury: Active skill used to increase the damage of spells, very useful. Depending on the level and class.

Resistance: Stun Duration Resistance (15%)

living Dead

Will of the Forsaken – Can be used to remove Fear, Sleep, and Charm with a 2 minute cooldown.

Underwater Breathing – Very useful when answering certain questions or when hiding from other players underwater!

Cannibalize: Eat a corpse to recover 7% health and mana every 2 seconds, lasts 10 seconds.

trolls

Berseking: Active skill used to increase casting speed by 20% for 10 seconds with a 3 minute cooldown.

Da Voodoo Shuffle – Passive ability that reduces movement-impairing effects by 15%

Beast Slaying: And 5% bonus damage to beasts, useful when leveling up.

blood elves

Arcane Torrent – Silences enemies for seconds within 8 yards of the player. 2 minute cooldown. It could be useful in some situations, however you have to be very close to use this ability which leaves the mage very vulnerable.

goblins

Rocket Jump: Good escape mechanism, very similar to Blink. 2 minute cooldown.

Time Is Money – Adds to haste, giving the player a 1% increase in casting speed.

Better Life Through Chemistry: 25% more health/mana bonuses from player-created potions. Also grants 15 bonus points to alchemy.

tauren

Unfortunately, Tauren can’t become a mage!
