I recently got a triple SLI setup, with three GTX 480 cards, now that have been reduced to just $ 249.99, or even $ 219.99 for some retailers. One of the first games I decided to try is one of my favorites. The original Dead Space definitely has a place in my heart as one of my favorite games. I’m a huge fan of third person over the shoulder shooter games like this game and Resident Evil 5.
How to Play:
The gameplay in Dead Space 2 can be described as simple but sweet. The controls are easy to use and definitely beat the controls on the original Dead Space. In the original, the game would be better with V-sync enabled. I played Dead Space 2 with vertical sync disabled and hardly noticed any tearing on the screen. The variety of weapons in the game or many and each one is unique from the others. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed to learn that the entire game could be beaten with the plasma cutter alone, which is pretty sad and makes you want to ask, ‘what’s the point of the others?’ They sure are fun to play with, but I like that my weapons are necessary and essential in certain situations, making each one important and playing a vital role in different parts of the game. Other than that, the camera works very well with this style of play.
Levels:
The levels of the game are very well designed and are more detailed than one might expect. I discovered parts of the game that were beautiful, like looking through a window to see the outside of the station you are in. And I thought, ‘a lot of this must go unnoticed by the average gamer.’ But not me! I tried to appreciate all the graphical glory that the game showed going through all the corridors. Some of the areas are a bit bland and may feel very enclosed, but it’s not too bad.
Story:
History is nothing to love. The voice acting is well done and the character animations, and even the facial expressions, were thought out and obviously done by some talented graphic artists. I’m on my second play so far so I know most of the story but soon forgot about it even after my first play. Actually, it is not too memorable.
Conclution:
Well worth playing. It’s very cheap now and definitely worth checking out if you haven’t already. A +.
