The typical bedroom is not at all comfortable. Most are described as more of a prison cell as a place where knowledge can be cultivated and cultivated.

The goal of Feng Shui is to create the best possible environment for us to surround ourselves with. For a student, if their environment is set up in the most optimal way, in a way that encourages learning and success, then they are well ahead of the curve! Why not get your education off to a good start by adding a bit of Feng Shui magic to the place where you will be spending most of your time for years to come.

Follow These Simple Feng Shui Tips for a Feng Shui Bedroom Makeover!

1. Start with a clean slate!
Clean every inch of the new room, start over. Clean the space and remove negative energies that someone else has left behind by opening the windows, letting in fresh air, and lighting some sage incense or playing sound or music to clear the space. If you can’t light sage, take 4 small bowls and put sage or rock salt in them and place in all four corners of your room to keep your space clear and serene. Replace them once a month if possible.

2. Color can be therapy!
If you have the option of painting the room or personalizing it, choose your colors wisely. If you can choose your personal hit colors (see our items tab on our website) or choose a color that helps you with what you want to achieve.

Greens for personal growth, prosperity, clear and energizing. Red for energy, fame and reputation, blue and black for personal wisdom and career, white, gray and metallic colors for intelligence and learning. Avoid wearing muted shades of soft browns or yellows as these colors, although grounding can slow the energies around you, however they add yellow and orange if you are feeling sluggish and your health has not been ideal. If you can’t paint your walls, use these colors in accessories or artwork.

3. Sleep in peace!
Make sure your headboard rests on a solid wall, if there is a window, hang strong blinds and heavy curtains that can be closed at night. Make sure you can see the door when you are lying in bed.

4. Keep the energies flowing!
Clutter is the biggest problem in Feng shui. Keep everything neat and orderly to keep your mind neat and orderly. Use organizers and shelves to keep clutter to a minimum. When you enter your room, the space should feel clear and uncluttered, a great space to study, meditate, or rest.

5. The ideal desktop location
If you have the luxury, your desk should be placed in the northeast corner of the room, the area that is associated with knowledge. Keep it tidy and make sure you have a desk lamp for easy study.

6. Relationships: part of the experience
Do you want to boost your social life? Add a light (night light is great!) In the southwest corner of your bedroom, this should help get your social life moving! If it gets too crowded, turn off the light!

7. Poison arrows
Sharp points that are pointed directly at you when you sleep can undermine all your good efforts. In a small room they are difficult to avoid. If you have a bookcase or desk where the corner points directly at your bed, soften it up by placing child bumpers on the ends. A quick and cheap solution!

8. Disconnection
Rest is essential and often difficult when living in a bedroom. At night, try to close or cover any televisions or computer equipment if possible to ensure a good night’s rest.
