“Hotter Than Hell,” the third book in Jackie Kessler’s “Hell on Earth” series, is a deliciously sinful delight. This time it’s about Daunuan, the irresistible incubus. His sexy, otherworldly antics make sparks fly, and if you’re not careful, you’ll be fooling your fingers as they turn the pages.

The incubus Daunuan seduces mortals and takes their souls to hell. The King of Lust offers him a promotion to First Director of Lust if he seduces Virginia Reed, a woman destined to go to Heaven. Virginia resists his charms. She is a widow who is still mourning her husband. Daunuan knows that he will eventually wear her down, but first he has to deal with rogue demons and realize that he may be falling for the very woman he must condemn for eternity.

This book can stand on its own, but if you read the previous two books, you’ll already be familiar with Daunuan. Kessler does a great job writing this story from a male point of view. Daunuan is conflicted about her feelings for Virginia and if he succeeds in seducing her, he will kill her. Their romantic relationship creates a lot of sexual tension for the incubus. Never fear. You won’t be disappointed in the ending. It’s satisfying but bittersweet.

If you’re a reader who doesn’t like a demon as a hero, the raunchy dialogues and raunchier sex scenes give it a pass. On the other hand, if you like smart urban fantasy packed with quirky characters, a fast-paced plot, and great writing, you won’t be disappointed. Get ready for a demonic treat that’s hotter than hell.
