We have been living in a small old house for the last 25 years. While some parts are still good, others are already in disrepair. So, we decided to rebuild or renovate these sections of the house. Of all the rooms, the kitchen was the most damaged area and we decided to work on it first. As the eldest son in the family, my grandparents asked me to take charge of the reconstruction project. I was not a home enthusiast, nor did I have any experience in this field of work; so it was kind of a new ball game for me.

I went through various websites, books, and magazines to find some helpful kitchen renovation ideas. The numerous tips, snapshots, and announcements left me stumped and breathless. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a single concept that would combine the steps with our simple little house. Luckily my neighbor rescued me and gave me some really useful ideas. Let me share them with you today.

Smaller and packed into gadgets.

Today, manufacturers of electrical devices have created innovative devices that save space and make your small room seem bigger. Some of these smart kitchen appliances are 24-inch deep refrigerators and microwaves that can be placed under cabinets to save counter space.

Put your pans and pots in plain sight

For additional storage area, hang pans and pots on a separate pot rack. In addition to giving you extra cabinet space, they add a lot of appeal and character to your kitchen area. You can also opt for open shelves where you can display your dishes and other utensils.

Play the right game of light

No matter how small your kitchen is, the right type of lighting can make your space seem bigger and more rewarding.

Create a suitable food niche

Be smart and build an eating space in the kitchen without sacrificing your comfort level. Instead of taking up a large area, use a small round counter or drop-leaf table with small chairs that can be folded up and stored in a corner.

Be bold but subtle

Yes, I’m talking about the paint job. When it comes to kitchen decor, opt for darker shades of blue, orange, and green. To balance the overall look of the space, consider using furniture in pastel shades of beige, cream, and brown. This will give a stylish yet modern look to your property.
