This “overflow” problem can occur when, somewhere along the way, data was entered that is too large for its data field. What does this mean in plain English?
Let’s say you are working with Microsoft Access (a database program). You have to put information in several fields (boxes), when some of these boxes are preset to accept only certain values. If one of these fields is preconfigured to accept values of only 0-255, it would cause an overflow error if you accidentally entered, say, 377.

Without it, your word processor would have to search your entire computer for the printer connector, every time you wanted to print a document. You would also have to search the entire computer for the keyboard, display, and support software every time you start it up!
