Many patients with alopecia, commonly known as hair loss, often wish they could overcome their condition and live a normal life with a full head of hair. Women, especially, are very upset when they find out that they have been diagnosed with this condition. There are a lot of treatments available in the market (some are expensive, while others can be cheap), but most of them only bring more depression to the patient, especially when it is not effective.

Perhaps it would be comforting to know that even celebrities can suffer from hair loss. There are some celebrities who simply choose to go bald and show off instead of worrying and undergoing numerous treatments.

1. Baldness and arbitrage

Pierluigi Collina is an Italian soccer referee. Currently, he still works as an unpaid consultant for the AIA or Italian Association of Soccer Referees. He is a highly respected referee around the world and people basically call him Kojak because of his baldness. It was in the 1980s that Collina contracted a severe form of alopecia that resulted in loss of facial and scalp hair.

2. Bald Swimmer

Duncan Goodhew is a famous athlete and now he is also a motivational speaker. Goodhew is a swimming legend who won a gold and bronze medal at the 1980 Olympics in Moscow. He is bald not because he chose him to be good at his profession but because he contracted alopecia universalis (or total hair loss). Due to this condition, he has an advantage (due to hydrodynamics) when swimming.

3. Bald and on TV!

Gail Porter is a famous TV presenter in the UK. She married Toploader guitarist Dan Hipgrave in 2001 and this union was broken in the summer of 2004. The separation caused Porter to become depressed and turn to drugs. Her condition soon worsened as stress, drug use, and postpartum depression all collaborated to trigger alopecia areata.

She soon became an advocate for educating people about this condition. Even with her baldness, she refused to wear wigs. However, it is believed that her hair loss is not permanent and Ella Porter confirmed that she could regrow her hair.

4. Actors who succumb to hair loss

Patrick Stewart, best known for his role on Star Trek, is an award-winning actor (both on stage and on film). Stewart has never been ashamed of his baldness, in fact, he was even listed as the Sexiest Man on TV in TV Guide in 1992.

Bruce Willis, who wouldn’t be able to recognize this hot and sexy action star? He starred in many unforgettable movies like Armageddon, Pulp Fiction, Sin City, The Sixth Sense and the Die Hard series. His hair receded noticeably in the late ’90s. He eventually shaved off the rest of it and started a trend among white men much like Michael Jordan among African-Americans.

Famous or not, people can be affected by hair loss, but this does not stop some from living their lives to the fullest. If you can, make the most of baldness by staying calm and shaving completely.
