In 2004, the Hubble Space Telescope took a series of images that came together to form what is called the Hubble deep field. The total area of the sky covered by Profound Field is the equivalent of putting a dime 75 feet away and looking at it, that’s it. In other words, according to Wikipedia, one 24 millionth of the sky. There were 3,000 deep field images from Hubble, almost all of which were determined to be galaxies, the most distant being up to 13 billion light-years away.

Now, read it again and think about it. 3000 galaxies, each containing billions of stars (our sun is, of course, a star. We are not talking about planets, comets, etc.). Now, let’s multiply 3000 by 24 million, and we’ll get roughly 72 billion galaxies. Not millions, as Dr. Evil would say in “Austin Powers”, but BILLIONS. 72 BILLION galaxies.

Now how far away were those farthest galaxies? Light travels 186,000 miles per second. That’s 11,160,000 miles per minute, 669,600,000 miles per hour, 16,070,400,000 miles per day (that’s 16 billion), and 5.865696e + 12 per year, whatever, times 13 billion. That is the distance at which the Hubble Deep Field saw the farthest galaxies. And then we have all those billions of galaxies between here and there. A little beyond comprehension.

So do you think there can be life in other parts of the Universe? Do you think we may not know much in light of the fact that the earth is more or less a grain of sand on a million mile long beach? However, everything seems to move in perfect harmony. The earth rotates every 24 hours, exactly, every day. The earth revolves around the sun every 365 days, or 365 1/4 to be specific. The seasons on Earth come and go in exactly the same way, every year. We are exactly the right distance from the sun to keep life the way it is here. Everything is so perfect, so precise.

Now let’s think on a smaller scale. A single human cell is a world unto itself. The human body has billions of cells. The human body (or the body of any animal, for that matter) is a universe of cells, tissues, and organs that all work together in harmony (in a healthy body) to keep the body alive. There are about 8.7 million type species on this planet. Then we have the trees, the grass, the flowers, and so on. Lots of life on this little planet of bears.

I have five children. When your mother was pregnant, we used to see what a fetus looked like in various stages, and with the last one, we were able to see ultrasound images. The development of a fetus from conception to birth is amazing to behold, and to see such a child being born is to see a miracle unfold before your eyes. It doesn’t look like anything in this life. I was lucky to be there during the birth of my five children.

In light of all that is being said here, ask yourself: Is there an Intelligence to guide you behind all this? Does a Creative Intelligence form the body from conception to birth and keep it alive until it dies of old age or from some other cause? Does some kind of guiding Intelligence keep the planet, the solar system, the galaxy and the Universe working in harmony? Or is it all some kind of cosmic accident? I choose to believe that there is a Source, a Creative Intelligence behind everything. I call this Source God. I choose to believe that God creates everything, sustains everything, is every part within my soul and body as He (She) is in a galaxy 13 billion light years away. I also choose to believe that this Source that I call God can do amazing things in our lives when we truly align with it. That’s what I think. What you create is up to you, but think about it …
