I have been a member of a group called Women in Business
Connection (WIBC for short) in Cambridge, MA for about four
years. We meet for lunch once a month. Latest
week at our December event, several of the women told me
how much they liked my newsletter. It’s always good to hear
supplementary comments, but one woman went even further: she
He said it was like receiving a “Zen moment” in his email. (Thanks
Cibeline!)

How she made me think. That’s exactly what i want
provide – Zen moments for my readers. In no way am I a Zen
expert, but I hope that reading my monthly messages
offer you a moment to temporarily disconnect from what I call the
Life perpetual progress grid. My wish is to share with you a
moment of reflection, appreciation and calm.

So today, I will describe to you how “unhooking from the net”
for brief moments and at random intervals. I think so
Is this brief but constant “disengagement” that keeps me
renewed, creative and finally at peace. Sharing my
techniques with you, I invite you to borrow, create or identify
your own.

I “disengage” from pressures, desires, emotions and obligations
of the perpetual progress grid when:

– I hear my dog climb the stairs to join me
office and stop what I’m doing for a few minutes, pat it
belly and thank you for coming to visit me.

“ I take a break from work, drive into town and have coffee in my
Favorite independent coffee shop with my husband.

–I turn off my phone, ignore email and go into creativity
happiness when writing.

– I take a moment to look out the window and notice the way
rain, snow or sun are reflected on the glass just at that moment
moment.

– I attend a yoga class and I appreciate my mind and my
limbs to their full expression.

– I take a deep breath and feel my abdomen extend.

– I drive slowly and quietly.

– I clean my house rhythmically, cook a meal, wrap a gift, or wash
dishes (yes, sometimes I like to feel hot soapy water on my
hands).

–I sit anywhere and look at the world for a moment – people,
the trees and the clouds … whatever is going on in front of me
From my point of view.

– I sing (bad too, believe me).

When I do these things, I am temporarily “floating free” and my
the mind is, on some level, disconnected from the need to achieve. It is
a place where small moments of joy coexist.
