“The only way to win in content marketing is for the reader to say, ‘This was written specifically for me’ – Jamie Turner.”
Content marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience and ultimately drive profitable customer action.
The content can be in the form of articles, videos, newsletters, podcasts, and more. Ideally, you should stick to marketing one or two types of content until you get consistent results with them.
I’m here to share with you the 6 stages to successfully marketing your content.
Stage 1 – Know the purpose of producing specific content. Do you want to develop your brand as a business? Do you want to win leads and subscribers? Do you want to make sales? Or do you want to connect with people? Knowing the purpose of your content means that you know the desired result, and will produce the content in such a way that it will give you that result.
Stage 2: Identify who you are talking to with your content. Who are you talking to? Where do they hang out? What they want? How can you give them a solution? Finding the answers to these questions is essential to attracting the right kind of people to your content. Then you can produce relevant content that people really care about and resonate with.
“If you are marketing to everyone, you are not marketing to anyone.”
Stage 3: plan your content. Planning and researching what you are going to write for your content is very useful if you want to produce attractive and quality content. What I like to do when planning my articles is search for similar content on Google so I can understand the similarities and differences when writing my articles.
Stage 4: provide a call to action (CTA). In marketing, CTA is an instruction to the audience to provoke an immediate response that is usually given at the end of a content. Including a call to action in your content will ensure that the reader is not left with nothing at the end of the content and can instead proceed with a follow-up action, which is related to the purpose of your content.
Stage 5: Market your content. Producing quality content is one thing, but marketing it and getting people to notice it is another. There are many different ways to market your content. One way is to use search engine optimization (SEO). SEO is used to improve your ranking in search engine results like Google. Including specific keywords in your content will help you rank higher in search engines when people search for those keywords. Other ways to market your content include: social media, email marketing, pay per click (PPC), and paid ads.
Stage 6: Evaluate your content. The final stage is evaluating your content to understand which content is producing results and which is not. From there, you can apply more of what works and less of what doesn’t.
Make sure you understand these 6 stages to be successful with content marketing:
1. Know the purpose of the content
2. Identify your audience
3. Plan your content
4. Provide a call to action
5. Market your content
6. Evaluate your content
