Do your friends run to the other side when they see you? Are your calls filtered? Have you invited a bald coworker to a chance meeting only to be told you had to stay home and wash your hair? Are you spending more on autoship than what is currently sent to your wallet? If any of these events sound familiar, you may have infectious emeleminosis. Emeleminosis (em-el-eminosis) is nothing to be ashamed of and there is help. In my quest to eradicate emeleminosis, I searched the internet in hopes of guessing the answer … I’ve listed a few findings below.

Anyone who has been in the MLM industry for a period of time has seen it evolve from presenting the Denny’s table with your friends and neighbors to sponsoring people on the other side of the world with the click of a button. The Internet is amazing because it makes marketing, prospecting, training, and sponsorship “simple” and gives those who master its skills virtually unlimited reach. This sound is like an MLM utopia, right? For a time it was. If he came to the party early and brought his downlines with him, he made a ton of money. Ah … but there is a dark side, Luke! Joe MLM’er in his fifth row now has the ability to see and interact with reps from thousands of different opportunities all the time … let’s call them “very bright stuff.” You have the promise of a superior location, you are invited to participate in a “pre-launch” or you will enter a 2×2 forced matrix just below your friend with a downline of 10,000 people. Unlike when there was a certain degree of brand loyalty, now 98% of people who fail in MLM are sure that it has nothing to do with their personal activity and that EVERYTHING has to do with the opportunity they have chosen, when they entered and who sponsored them.

They are right? Yes and no. Many of them would have failed if they were one of the first representatives to sign up with Amway. No system can make up for lack of execution. But other than that, how can you earn serious residual income from a business when all your reps come and go in search of the magic MLM that is going to change everything in their lives? It will be difficult. And when 4,000 people leave your downline and your residual goes from 15,000 per month to 3,000, chances are you’ll jump to the next big thing and try to drag your downline with you. Remember, MLM is all about residual income. To get this residual income, the downline must remain intact.

Then what do you do? The logical solution is to find a system, product or service that allows you to earn the income you want WITHOUT having to support thousands of people. That’s! There are many options today, including top-tier opportunities and affiliate marketing. I could write forever about the different top tier and affiliate marketing opportunities available, but there is already a wealth of information about both on the internet. Do your research and find out what top earners in the internet marketing industry are doing, not just top earners in your current MLM. Also make sure the product is solid AND that you can make a living without thousands of other entrepreneurs making sales for you. As for traditional MLM … if you have a passion for a particular MLM product or service, just grab some cash and, as Gordon Gekko puts it, “put it on the dog with the fewest fleas.” That is, get involved in MLM that won’t take too much of your time, but will reward you with the products and relationships that you appreciate. Don’t let MLM stop you from reaching your financial potential.

Good luck and if you remember, if you liked this post, share it!

Wishing you a mountain of success
