It happens every once in a while, that day when your Nintendo Wii just won’t turn on. There are several issues that can cause your Wii to not turn on. In this article we are going to cover the most common problems and explain how to correct them.

The first problem that most people seem to overlook that causes their Wii to not turn on is a blown fuse. This happens when too much power is drawn from one outlet in a room, too much power causes the fuse to “trip” and prevents more power from passing through the outlet that “tripped” the fuse. This is a pretty easy solution. Go find the breaker box in your house; usually it’s a silver or black box in the garage or basement that has a bunch of switches inside. Once you’ve located the box, press each “fuse” (they look like switches that spin left or right) in the direction they’re facing. If you find a switch that jerks, clicks, or moves a bit when you press it, you’ve discovered the fuse that has “tripped.” Now simply push the fuse in the opposite direction that it’s facing and you’re back to allowing electricity to flow through your outlet that wasn’t putting out power.

Another electrical issue that can cause your Wii to not turn on is a power outage. After a power outage, your Wii may not turn on if it was plugged in and turned on when the power first went out. To fix this, you will need to unplug the power cord, and then unplug all cables connected to the Wii. Let the system sit, without power, for 5 to 10 minutes. This will cause your Wii system to reboot and your problem should be fixed. If your Nintendo Wii still won’t turn on, you may have a damaged AC adapter/power cord. So before you send your Wii in to Nintendo to get fixed, buy a new power cord on eBay for $5 – $10, or pick one up at your local video game store.

If the above 2 methods don’t solve your problem, try playing your Nintendo Wii in another room or plug the power cord into a different outlet.
