Who do you think is more aggressive with the other? Does a Pit Bull show more aggression towards people? Or do people show more aggression towards the Pits?

Sure Bully Breed dogs can be aggressive towards other dogs, heck they are sometimes aggressive towards people… But can you tell me you don’t know a single person who is so terrified of our pets that they wish they would just go away? this land? if this would be possible?

Fear makes people much more aggressive than pit bulls.

…our lack of knowledge creates a void filled with heavy problems and hollow solutions…

See how our Pit Bulls are not perfect, neither are we. As humans some tend to let fear control their decisions when it comes to Bully Breed and then these same people become aggressive. This is why we have states like Ohio that are the APBT (American Pit-Bull Terrier) equivalent of North Korea. Or states with cities like Ionia across America that are rushing to close the doors on this great American breed without even stopping to really think about the benefits and reasons to own, like Jim Sak, the paralyzed owner of a service dog who it was banned in Iowa. Even “pros” in training rooms and “experts” in animal control facilities are guilty of sewing this straw man.

What happened to personal responsibility? I can’t remember the last time I read a story about a misbehaving Bully Breed where the irresponsible owner was at the center of the aggression discussion. It seems that the only people who approach these incidents with a cool head are the dogs themselves.

Seeing aggression in a dog is explainable, reasonable, and generally predictable. They don’t go around biting or attacking people or dogs for no reason, animals don’t really do things “just for the sake of it.” But the fact that this is true does not mean that people are sensible enough to consider it. If we stopped and figured this out, we could restrict ownership to non-dumb, irresponsible people and BAM! case closed and the litany of canine aggression problems gets the needle.

Aggression comes in a couple of forms. Most Pit Bulls do not show aggression towards people and many do not show canine aggression when they are trained and socialized responsibly. In my years, I have never met an APBT who was aggressive towards people, but I did meet many who were not good with other dogs. It’s difficult or impossible to curb their predispositions with a long history of dogfighting, but neither is anyone asking any human being to curb their natural inclinations. We work with our dogs and do the best we can, some of them just aren’t meant to spend their lives playing with other puppies and that’s okay, it’s controllable. But I must be clear, pit bulls and assaulting people are the exception, not the rule.

What cannot be controlled is misinformed people with a legislative pen and fear of these dogs.

Because of this fear, they believe that aggression is extraordinary and many of them across the country are doing their best to rid us of this “evil breed” of dogs without stopping to realize that they are much like any other domesticated canine. Either none of these people know what a Bully Breed looks like or they are doing it for much more nefarious reasons like votes. We need to educate the masses as best we can and continue to build our pro-Pittie alliance. I envision a day when pit bulls are hailed as America’s favorite dog and breed-specific legislation is a thing of the past.
