Public spaces, such as office buildings, can be prime targets for thieves and burglars. In many cases, thieves have access to the office building and offices, and can come and go as they please. Many of them schedule their entrance to the building for regular breaks, lunches, early in the morning or very late, just before everyone goes home. Thieves can sneak into cubicles and go straight to the correct drawer to find purses, wallets, and other valuable items. The most brazen thieves might try to steal computers and computer accessories. Anyone can be a victim of this type of crime, and the culprit is not always a stranger. Sometimes employees can also be guilty of theft.

Security cameras, whether they are normal or wireless cameras, can be one of the best defenses against potential theft. Well-placed cameras can act as a deterrent to would-be thieves, as many of them don’t want to risk getting caught. Cameras can also provide crucial evidence if something is stolen. A complete security system would be a great idea, but you can install cameras to help solve a current problem or stop a problem before it starts.

If you install cameras in a work environment, always keep privacy concerns in mind. Cameras should never be installed in an area that has a reasonable expectation of privacy. Cameras should be kept out of restrooms, offices, cubicles, or break areas. If there are any concerns about privacy or employee rights, please speak with human resources.
