In December 2010, LG released the first smartphone with a dual-core processor. This was the LG Optimus 2X. Soon after, almost every other manufacturer started releasing their own phones with powerful CPUs. In January 2011, Motorola released the Motorola Atrix. In April of this year, two companies launched phones that would revolutionize mobile performance. HTC launched the Sensation. Samsung released the Galaxy S2. These phones came equipped with 1.2 GHz dual core processors when the rest only came with 1 GHz CPUs. This took performance to new heights. Now what about Apple? Has it been left behind?

Ever since Apple’s latest generation smartphone was released in June 2010, many thought that its next generation phone would be unveiled in June this year. However, months passed and we still hadn’t seen the new release. In October, Apple finally released the iPhone 4S. Although the phone looked identical to its predecessor, it came with more powerful hardware under the hood. One of these improvements was its CPU, the A5 chip.

The A5 chip is twice as powerful as its predecessor, the A4. Its GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) is seven times more powerful compared to its predecessor. This means that the iPhone 4S can run intense games with no problem. Also, you can multitask with ease. Running multiple apps simultaneously will never affect performance.

A month after the market launch of Apple’s iPhone 4S, both Google and Samsung launched the Android flagship. This is the Galaxy Nexus. This powerful smartphone comes equipped with a TI OMAP 4460 chipset with 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9 dual-core processor. It also comes with a powerful PowerVR SGX540 GPU. This allowed the phone to multitask with ease. Furthermore, its GPU allowed users to enjoy more of the intense graphics acceleration offered by today’s 3D mobile games.

These two phones not only offered the best CPUs that mobile technology had to offer. They are also pre-installed with the latest software. The iPhone 4S comes pre-installed with iOS 5. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus comes pre-installed with the Android operating system version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Both smartphones were the first to feature the latest versions of their respective software.

With state-of-the-art processors and the latest software inside these smartphones, users can now enjoy better 3D graphics, 1080p video support, and heavy multitasking. With these powerful devices, you can simply do more. With the iPhone 4s and Galaxy Nexus, you’re sure to enjoy the processing prowess from within.
