Infant and toddler safety seats are used for young children, ages 12 to 24 months and up to 40 pounds. Did you know that 98% of car seats are installed incorrectly? Make sure your baby or toddler travels safely.
Parents should know that car seats are the safest way for their children to travel.

Tips on using and choosing a toddler safety seat

Sitting position: Infants and toddlers should remain in a rear-facing car seat until they are 1 year old AND weigh 20 pounds. Until infants and toddlers reach these two milestones, they are not developmentally ready to be placed in a forward-facing car seat.

Car Seat Restrictions: It is suggested that you choose a toddler car seat with a five-point safety harness: one for each shoulder, one for each thigh, and one between the legs of toddlers.

Belt Adjustments – It’s best to avoid car seats that require you to adjust the buckle from the back of the seat. Choose ones that allow you to make adjustments from the front and have raised belt slots for easy fastening.

Are they comfortable?: Make sure your toddler enjoys a more comfortable ride. Buy a well-padded seat with plenty of support for your head and back. Also, make sure you can move your arms freely.

Washability: Buy car seats that are removable and machine washable instead of seats with pads that cannot be removed! You already know that small children and the masses go hand in hand.

Car Seat Mobility – Make sure car seats do not move more than an inch in any direction. Check your car seat owner’s manual to determine what can be done about it, if they move more than that.
