I have recently been using the TRX Suspension Trainer as my new home gym equipment. If you haven’t heard of it, it is basically two straps that are suspended from a higher anchor point. I have it installed in my basement hooked around the “I” beam. It’s called suspension training because you are suspended while you are training. There are over 300 exercises you can do with the suspension trainer. All of these exercises use your body weight in combination with TRX.

Many of the exercises with the suspension trainer can be combined in supersets or tri-sets without having to loosen the straps or without removing the feet from the foot supports.

These are some of my favorite TRX exercises that you can combine into Supersets or Tri-sets.

TRX Bicep Curls Superser and Tri-set

If I told you I can do bodyweight bicep curls, you’d probably think I’m crazy. Well, you can do them with the TRX. Start by shortening the straps and lean back at an angle so there is some resistance. All you have to do now is a bicep curl. You can do this exercise on its own or as a tri-set or inserted tri-set. I think I just made it up.

The reason this can be a tri-set is because you can easily switch from the regular bicep curl angle (palms up) to hammer curls (palms inward) and then reverse bicep curls (palms down). . You can do one rep of each before changing or ending a set and moving on to the next move. This is a great bicep exercise to get your biceps pumping.

Suspended Reverse Crunches TRX

Another unique exercise is the suspended reverse crunches. Begin in the push-up position with your feet on the suspension trainer’s foot supports. Squeeze your knees to your chest while suspended on the suspension trainer. This is great for the abs and hamstrings. You are doing an abs workout and a hamstring workout in one.

If you want to turn this exercise into a superset, you can also add a chest workout as well by adding a pushup after each crunch. If you want to make it really difficult, stop when your legs are bent and hold that position for 5 seconds. It is a great way to hit the lower abs. Some call this movement the atomic bending.

There are many exercises that you can combine in supersets and tri-sets with the TRX suspension trainer.
