Kindergarten worksheets present an engaging way for kindergarten children to learn and reinforce basic concepts. Since children learn best by doing and since children get bored very easily, giving them well designed and illustrated worksheets makes it easier and more fun for them to learn. Completing a worksheet also gives children a great sense of satisfaction.

How to use the worksheets to best effect:

1. Give children level-appropriate worksheets. Hand out an easy worksheet for a concept immediately after teaching that concept.

2. The worksheets should require the child to think just a little bit. If a child finds an activity too difficult, give him an easier one. It is important that the child does not get frustrated. Remember that different children have very different levels of understanding and rates of learning.

3. It will help if the worksheets are well illustrated. Using cartoon characters would make it more interesting for a child. Summarize common situations encountered at home, school, market, etc. and using common objects known to children would make the worksheets more relevant.

4. Try to supplement each worksheet with a real life activity. For example, after a counting worksheet, you might ask the child to choose 3 cookies and 2 carrots from many.

5. Remember, a child is learning many new things at once. A child of this age has an amazing ability to learn many new things quickly. He can also forget them just as quickly. Make lots of interesting worksheets with cartoons etc. it would be fun for him and it would help to continually reinforce what he learned.

6. Give positive feedback and encourage a child. His fine motor skills are just developing. Don’t expect or try for perfection. Don’t give him any writing exercises too soon, that is, until he’s completely comfortable holding a pencil. Give enough time and continually reinforce learning in everyday situations. Most importantly, it must be fun for both the teacher and the student!
