Wooden vases give any room an exotic look that is sure to catch the eye of all your visitors. With many styles, wooden vases are always unique and genuine pieces of art. As with any piece of art, a wooden vase can be a delicate decoration and needs to be cared for. Here are some things every wooden vase owner should know:

Avoid sun exposure

Avoiding sunlight is especially important when handling vases made of untreated wood. Sunlight can actually whiten the piece creating a stiff look. If placed directly next to a window, it is always best to keep the shade down or remove the vase when there is direct sunlight.

Avoid high humidity levels

Wood can warp when exposed to high humidity, such as in the bathroom. If you place it in the bathroom, you can remove it to shower and replace the vase once the room has been adequately ventilated.

Avoid prolonged contact with water (if left untreated)

A vase made of untreated wood should be properly lined with plastic before being filled with water. Not doing this could cause permanent damage by cracking the wood. If you want to avoid all chances of ruining your wooden vase, you can add dry accents like dried flowers or wheatgrass.

Clean your vase with a dry cloth

Just take a dry cloth and wipe the wooden vase at least once a week and the vase will look beautiful. While there are many wood cleaners on the market, it’s always best to keep your vase free of unnatural chemicals. If an accident occurs, you can use a small amount of natural cleaner.

Never put a wooden vase in the dishwasher

Placing the wooden vase in the dishwasher will almost certainly ruin it. Wood cannot withstand heat, excess water, and pressure. It should also not be submerged in a sink full of water.

Repair cracks immediately

As with most other natural products, cracks in wooden vases can spread if not sealed properly. There are many products available to heal cracks, but all natural solutions have been considered the most effective.
